If you’re injured aboard a cruise ship, you typically must file your lawsuit within a year of the date of the accident, or you will be precluded from bringing that case by the statute of limitations. The major cruise lines, such as Carnival, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, some of the smaller carriers, almost all of them have a ticket, or contract of carriage, and that ticket states that you have to provide them with written particulars of your injury claim within 6 months of the date of the accident. Additionally, you have to file suit within 1 year of the date of the accident in the right court. If you don’t file your lawsuit within a year, the statute of limitations will cut you off, and you’ll be without a remedy.
